Growing up in Gonaives, Haiti was a constant test of resilience. Our parents, against all odds, strived to give us a better life. To chase that dream, my father set sail on a courageous voyage to the United States, while my mother stayed behind, shouldering the responsibility of caring for us. She worked tirelessly to ensure we never went hungry, doing her best to nurture and protect us.
Then came February 2002, a pivotal moment for our family. The time had finally arrived for us to embark on our own journey to the USA. Mixed emotions filled our hearts as we bid farewell to the only place we had ever called home. Yet, amidst the bittersweet farewell, we made a sacred vow to stay true to our roots and remain devoted to our community.
It was during this time that the seeds of The Next Generation Foundation were sown. This remarkable organization emerged with a mission to uplift our community and empower the youth. Our goal was simple but profound: to spread happiness, pay forward the kindness we received, and transform lives for the better.
